Balloon decorations may be used at almost any event. Traditionally, balloons were associated with parties, birthdays and weddings; however, corporate events and other normally formal events may also benefit from balloon displays. Companies are continuously looking for ways to cut costs, especially in today’s tough economic climate. Therefore, budgets for trade shows, exhibitions, public displays and marketing & advertising are often cut to the bone to save money. Balloons are very cheap to buy and large balloon displays may cost very little in relation to the colourful visual impact they impart. It may be a shrewd marketing tool to maintain visibility without appearing to be cheapskate. Trade show booths may be decorated with balloons in the corporate colours. Outdoor displays or open/public days may be garnished with balloon decorations in the form of a giant company logo balloon cluster. Balloon decorations at weddings remain popular, even more so today, in view of the potential cost saving over other types of decorations. Some couples have a large balloon arch stretching over the wedding cake, or balloon cluster statues of the bride and groom. Helium balloons may be affixed to tables to serve as decoration and indicate the table numbers. At an indoor venue, balloon decorations work best when the ceiling is high, creating a sense of space and allowing more room for large arches and columns to be constructed. Remember to allow enough time for the decorators to assemble the displays before the event starts as this could take quite a while to complete, especially in the case of large, complex displays. Balloon decorations work best when there are at least three colours: two main colours and one accent colour. The use of one colour is mind-numbing and even two colours may become overpowering and a touch monotonous. A final thing to keep in mind is that professional balloonists often have to erect structures from which to hang displays: these incur additional costs. |
