The current global economic climate is tough and everybody is looking for ways to save money. Parties are toned down because party decorations can be very expensive. However, party balloons are a great way to maintain a party spirit at a low capital outlay. Balloons are cheap to buy and many of them make an imposing, larger-than-life impression and have a lot of impact at the price.

Normal latex balloon displays should be set up on the day of the party. Latex balloons lose their buoyancy through diffusion in a few days and start to look decidedly tired and flat. Balloons may be treated with a special adhesive that seals them on the inside and stops the air or Helium from escaping. This solution may be bought commercially, but it involves more cost and significantly more labour. More expensive balloons made out of thin foil are usually also perfectly airtight.

If a balloon drop is planned, the balloons should be filled with normal air to enable them to drop when released over the venue. This is an excellent way to kick off a party.

Balloon displays that are required to float require Helium. Floating displays can be quite elaborate, such as large arches or columns, or suspended clusters above each table. Company logos, giant figures or trees can be made out of balloon clusters; keep in mind that these complicated setups take time, so start well before the party. Also secure these displays well, as you do not want Helium balloons floating off and adding to the litter in the streets when they eventually land.

Party balloons remain the cheapest way to add colourful extravagance to a party. Special displays or printed balloons with a special message on them add a personal touch. It might be just the thing to put guests in a party mood, or to take the formal edge off a company gathering.
